Samuel Evans
As a freelance chorus master, Sam Evans has prepared the Swedish Radio Choir and Musikverein Wein for Daniel Harding, the BBC Singers for Sakari Oramo, the City of London Choir for Vasily Petrenko, and the Monteverdi Choir for Andrew Manze and John Eliot Gardiner. He is Music Director of Battersea Choral Society and Harrow Choral Society, and was previously Music Director of Teddington Choral Society and the University of Reading Chorus. He is also the founder and Music Director of Battersea Power Station Community Choir, and conducts Barcarolle and the Kew Gardens staff and volunteers’ choir.
Sam has sung in the Monteverdi Choir from the age of 22, and has taken numerous solos with the choir in that time, including the role of Kilian in Weber Le Freyschutz at the Opéra Comique in Paris. He has prepared the Monteverdi Choir for performances in Berlioz Benvenuto Cellini and Les Troyens. Sam trained as a singer at the Royal Academy of Music, and at the Royal College of Music International Opera School, where he won the Tagore Gold Medal. He is a winner of the Association of English Speakers and Singers Prize.
