Florian Sievers

The German tenor Florian Sievers studied singing with Berthold Schmid in Leipzig, where he graduated with honours in 2021.

His establishment as a soloist quickly developed into an international concert career that now regularly takes him to major music centres. Highlights in 2022/23 included his US debut at the Boston Early Music Festival and concerts with the B'Rock Orchestra in The Hague, Brussels and Antwerp. In 2023/24, Florian Sievers was invited to Wigmore Hall London and the Rheingau Music Festival, among others. As the Evangelist in Bach's St John Passion, he has performed with the RIAS Chamber Choir and the Akademie für Alte Musik under Justin Doyle in Berlin and Paris and with the hr Sinfonieorchester under Alain Altinoglu at the Alte Oper Frankfurt. At the Hamburg State Opera, he was the tenor soloist in John Neumeier's ballet ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’ based on Bach's Mass in B minor.

Engagements in 2024/25 include a CD recording of F. Hiller's ‘Saul’ with the Kölner Akademie, Bach cantatas with the Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra under Jaroslaw Thiel, the Mozart Requiem under Frieder Bernius, Bach's cantata BWV 112 (concert and CD/video recording) with the Bachstiftung St. Gallen under Rudolf Lutz and Bach's St Matthew Passion with the Thomanerchor and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig.

He has performed with conductors such as Jordi Savall, Lionel Meunier and Wolfgang Katschner as well as with orchestras such as the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Sønderjyllands Symfonieorkester, Lautten Compagney, Freiburger Barockorchester and Nederlandse Bachvereniging.

Opera productions also play an important role in his work. In the opera ‘J. S. Bach - The Apocalypse’ (production: Opera2Day), which premiered in 2022, he also embodied the leading role of Jan van Leyden in over 20 performances in Holland and Germany in 2024, including at the Royal Opera in The Hague and the Leipzig Bach Festival.

Numerous CD, video and radio recordings with works ranging from baroque to classical-romantic pieces and contemporary opera testify to the singer's stylistic expertise and wide variety of repertoire.
