The Monteverdi Apprentice year culminates in a showcase evening of solo and ensemble vocal music in the atmospheric setting of the Crypt at our St Martin-in-the-Fields home.
Over the course of an intensive year the Apprentices have been integrated into the Monteverdi Choir, providing a crucial bridge as they move from higher education to professional music-making. With an experienced mentor within the Monteverdi Choir to guide them, the Apprentices have taken part in rehearsals and performances at home and abroad – from the BBC Proms in London with the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, to Amsterdam with the Concertgebouw Orchestra. They have received solo and ensemble coaching from world-class experts, developing their musicianship and preparing them to embark on their exciting performing careers.
The current cohort of 10 Monteverdi Apprentices were selected from over 100 applicants, and will be accompanied in this showcase recital by piano and lute, conducted by the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra’s Associate Conductor, Dinis Sousa.
