Monteverdi Apprentices Showcase Recital - King’s College London Chapel

On Thursday 19 September 2019, our 2018/19 Monteverdi Apprentices, alongside members of the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists and under the direction of John Eliot Gardiner, performed their final recital in the intimate surroundings of King’s College London’s Chapel.

This performance marked the conclusion of a year long-tenure for the nine gifted young singers we appointed in 2018 as our Monteverdi Apprentices. The music heard in this recital celebrated the aims of the Programme, embracing works in several languages and styles, ranging from folksongs and canons to the most sophisticated polyphonic text-settings by Bach and Monteverdi. Furthermore, it was a distillation of the holistic approach to music-making offered by the programme and offered a window into a year of hard work and dedication by all those who took part.
