The Monteverdi Choir & Orchestras are thrilled to celebrate the recognition of our president, Carol Grigor CBE, who has been awarded the prestigious Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy.
This biennial honour, presented by the Carnegie family of institutions, acknowledges visionary philanthropists whose generosity has driven bold and lasting change. Recipients are recognised for their significant contributions to their chosen fields and communities, alongside a long-standing commitment to giving.
The MCO is grateful to Carol for her unstinting support of our continued pioneering work in the field of historically inspired performance.
Carol has dedicated her life to supporting the arts, with a particular focus on ensuring music remains accessible and inspiring for audiences worldwide. Beyond her role as President of the MCO, she serves as a director of the Colburn Collection, the Colburn Music Fund, and Dunard Fund UK. She is also a board member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, the Marlboro Music Festival, and the Yale School of Music board of visitors. In 2013, she was named Honorary Vice-President of the Edinburgh International Festival Society.
Her transformative contributions to the modern cultural landscape have played a pivotal role in enriching the UK’s artistic sector. Without her unwavering support, both the MCO and the wider cultural community would be considerably less vibrant and innovative.
This well-deserved award is a testament to Carol’s remarkable impact and dedication. Her dedication has shaped and sustained countless artistic endeavours, ensuring that music remains accessible and continues to inspire audiences worldwide.
