We're thrilled to celebrate our Dinis's success in receiving such a prestigious award for his “storming performances of Berlioz’s Les Troyens in London, Salzburg and Berlin” in 2023. The Guardian commented that “Sousa was electrifying in moments of grandeur, high drama and emotional intensity.”
The 2023-24 season continued with performances of Handel's L'Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato in the US and London (“Handel at his most magical … well-nigh perfect in performance” The Arts Desk), Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem with the Monteverdi Choir and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra ("Dinis Sousa…makes a dream debut in Amsterdam" Volkskrant) and the complete Beethoven symphonies in London and Paris ("It was hard to imagine the symphonies more thrillingly performed than they were here" Hugh Canning, Operalogue).
The Circle reflected that “Sousa has the surest feel for both the detail and the grand sweep of a score, and always brings an electric sense of excitement and drama to his conducting.”
