Concerts at St Martin-in-the-Fields in 2022

We are delighted to share details of our next four concerts at St Martin-in-the-Fields in 2022, as we continue our new creative partnership with the iconic central London church. Following our inaugural performance in December - Berlioz’s L’enfance du Christ – we look forward to concerts this year featuring the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists, as well as the current Monteverdi string Apprentices.

On Friday 25 February, our Apprentices will feature in St Martin’s lunchtime concert series for emerging artists, performing a delectable programme of Romantic chamber music for strings by Schubert, Puccini and Rossini. Book tickets here.

Exactly one month later, the Apprentices return to Trafalgar Square to perform in St Martin’s ‘Crypt Lates’ series. This will be an opportunity to hear more exquisite Romantic chamber music, in the intimate and atmospheric setting of the church’s vaulted Crypt. Book tickets here.

Following a series of concerts on the US West Coast, the English Baroque Soloists and John Eliot Gardiner return to St Martin’s with a programme of Mozart and Haydn symphonies on Saturday 23 April. Award-winning violinist Isabelle Faust also joins the EBS for this performance, featuring as the soloist in Mozart’s first and third violin concertos. Book tickets here.

Then on Thursday 16 June, the English Baroque Soloists joins forces with the Monteverdi Choir for a concert of music by Bach and two of his German forebears: Schütz and Schein. The works in this programme, which include Bach’s Actus Tragicus and Schütz’s Musikalische Exequien, show all three composers’ contrasting approaches to the subject of death as they each attempt to offer some comfort to the bereaved through their beautiful music. Book tickets here.
