Wed 9, 4.00pm
Santa Teresa Convent, Cartagena, Colombia
English Baroque Soloists
Kristian Bezuidenhout - harpsichord
Kati Debretzeni - violin
After many years focusing on Bach’s vocal works, we will perform two purely instrumental programmes in the beautiful chapel of Cartagena’s old Santa Teresa convent on 9 and 10 January 2019.
Kati Debretzeni, the leader of the EBS, will be the soloist in three violin concertos, including the rarely-heard D minor (better known in its later version as a harpsichord concerto); and the South African keyboard player Kristian Bezuidenhout - a regular collaborator with the MCO ensembles who joined the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique two years ago for Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 - will perform two of Bach’s harpsichord concertos. The virtuosic Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, and Orchestral Suite No. 2, with its famous concluding Badinerie, complete the programmes.
Violin Concerto in A minor (Kati Debretzeni - violin)
Harpsichord Concerto in A (Kristian Bezuidenhout - harpsichord)
Violin Concerto in E (Kati Debretzeni - violin)
Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor
