Michal Czerniawski
Polish countertenor Michał Czerniawski studied singing at the Music Academy in Gdansk and Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
Michał worked extensively with William Christie (Le Jardin des Voix world tour, 30th Anniversary of Les Arts Florissants at Opéra Comique), Masaaki Suzuki and Mark Padmore (Aldeburgh Music). His concert repertoire includes Georg Friedrich Handel’s oratorios like Messiah and Solomon (Solomon’s Knot) as well as Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater (Cracow Chamber Opera), Salve Regina (London Handel Festival), Domenico Scarlatti’s Il Primio Omicidio (Wratislavia Cantans).
Opera work has included Corrindo in L’Orontea by Pietro Antonio Cesti (Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Music and Wigmore Hall with David Bates and La Nuova Musica), Henry Purcell’s The Fairy Queen (Teatr Wielki w Poznaniu, Opera na Zamku w Szczecinie), Georg Friedrich Handel’s Acis & Galatea and “L’Opera Seria” by Florian Leopold Gassmann with New European Opera, Jacopo Peri’s Euridice with Brighton Youth Orchestra, Orlando Generoso by Agostino Steffani at Barber Institute of Fine Arts in Birmingham, and The Fairy Queen, Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea Jason” by Francesco Cavalli and Handel’s Agrippina with English Touring Opera. Future engagements include performances at Göttingen International Handel Festival and Bachfest in Leipzig.
