Matthias Dähling

Matthias Daehling is a German countertenor, acclaimed both as a soloist and ensemble singer. He works regularly with Ulla Groenewold in Hamburg and graduated
with distinction from the Royal College of Music in London in 2023, studying with Sally Burgess and receiving further guidance from Michael Chance.
Recent highlights include Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” with lautten compagney Berlin under Wolfgang Katschner, and performances at venues such as Palau de la Música
Catalana in Barcelona, St Martin-in-the-Fields in London, Vienna’s Stephansdom, and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, where he sang J.S. Bach’s ‘Magnificat’.

Matthias is passionate about song repertoire and raising the profile of the countertenor voice in this field. He appeared in song recitals at Wigmore Hall London
and Salle Cortot Paris. As an ensemble singer, he collaborates regularly with renowned ensembles including Vox Luminis and Balthasar Neumann Choir, and has sung under distinguished conductors such as Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Lionel Meunier, and Thomas Hengelbrock. His artistry is documented in several CD recordings, among them releases with the Neumeyer Consort under Felix Koch. Matthias made his stage debut in 2021 at the Bavarian State Opera in Shostakovich’s “The Nose” under Vladimir Jurowski, returning for the 2023/24 season.
