Jone Martínez

Basque soprano Jone Martínez has established herself as one of the most compelling voices on today’s musical scene. She began her vocal training in the Basque Country with Olatz Saitua and Maite Arruabarrena at Musikene, and later pursued further studies with Carlos Mena, developing a strong artistic affinity with historically informed performance.

She is a regular collaborator with leading period ensembles such as La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, Bach Collegium Japan, Forma Antiqva, the Seville Baroque Orchestra, the European Union Baroque Orchestra, Capilla Santamaría, Gli Angeli Genève, Il Fervore, and other distinguished Baroque groups.

Her appearances include performances with renowned institutions such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, São Paulo Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional de España, Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, Orquesta de Radio Televisión Española, Euskadiko Orkestra, Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa, Orquesta Sinfónica de Barcelona, Ensemble Intercontemporain, and the Robert Schumann Philharmonie.

Praised for her versatility, Martínez performs a repertoire spanning from the Baroque period to contemporary music, working with conductors including Masaaki Suzuki, Andrea Marcon, Carlos Mena, Alexandre Bloch, Pierre Bleuse, Christoph König, Masato Suzuki, Perry So, and David Afkham.

Her recent operatic debuts include leading roles in works by Handel, Parra, Caccini, Graupner, and Vivaldi.
