Anthony Robin Schneider
Austrian-New Zealand bass Anthony Robin Schneider is a versatile artist with a flexible, powerful yet velvety voice, known for his musicality and expression in opera and concert repertoire, Mozart, Wagner and Verdi in particular. From 2019 to 2024, he was a member of Frankfurt Opera, performing roles including Hercules, King Heinrich, Bartolo, Grand Inquisitor, and Sparafucile. Between 2021 and 2024, he sang Fafner and Hunding in Brigitte Fassbaender’s Ring at the Tyrolean Festival Erl, returning in 2023 for Te Deumand Stabat Mater.
He appeared as Fafner in Siegfriedat Staatstheater Braunschweig, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte at Semperoper Dresden, Komische Oper Berlin and Houston Grand Opera, and King Heinrich in Lohengrinat Dutch National Opera. Other roles include Ghost of Hector in Les Troyens at Vienna State Opera, Truffaldino at Santa Fe Opera and with the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Doctor in Wozzeck at Canadian Opera Company.
He will open the 2025/26 season at the Salzburg Festival in Peter Eötvös’ Tri Sestry. He will also appear as Sarastro at the Semperoper Dresden and Theater Basel, as Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro with Dutch National Opera, and as Méphistophélès in a concert version of Gounod’s Faust at the Concertgebouw.
