The Monteverdi Choir joined the Edinburgh Festival Chorus and National Youth Choir of Scotland for a day-to-night performance of John Tavener's The Veil of the Temple.
Premiered in 2003, Tavener's magnum opus was created to awaken the spiritual side in everyone. This vast piece is sung in five languages and inspired by multiple world religions. In the opening concert of the 2025 Edinburgh International Festival, the Choir joined in a rare vocal communion, conducted by Sofi Jeannin, performing the eight cycles of this magnificent work, offering a once-in-a-life-time experience.
