The Monteverdi Choir & Orchestras are thrilled to celebrate the recognition of our President, Carol Grigor, who has been appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
Dame Carol Grigor DBE is recognised in the King's Honours for her outstanding philanthropic contribution to the UK cultural and charitable sectors, particularly in Scotland, supporting a range of organisations, projects and causes.
The MCO is extremely grateful to Dame Carol for her support of our continued pioneering work in the field of historically-informed performance since 1999.
Dame Carol has also been awarded the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) Angle Artist Award for her philanthropic endeavours in the performing arts.

Dame Carol has dedicated her life to supporting the arts, with a particular focus on ensuring music remains accessible and inspiring for audiences worldwide. Beyond her role as President of the MCO, she serves as a director of the Colburn Collection, the Colburn Music Fund, and Dunard Fund UK. She is also a board member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, the Marlboro Music Festival, and the Yale School of Music board of visitors. In 2013, she was named Honorary Vice-President of the Edinburgh International Festival Society.
Dame Carol's transformative contributions to the modern cultural landscape have played a pivotal role in enriching the UK’s artistic sector. Without her unwavering support, both the MCO and the wider cultural community would be considerably less vibrant and innovative.
This well-deserved honour is a testament to Dame Carol’s remarkable impact and dedication. Her dedication has shaped and sustained countless artistic endeavours, ensuring that music remains accessible and continues to inspire audiences worldwide.
