Gardiner conducts Brahms, Mendelssohn and Beethoven in Paris

Due to a last-minute programme change on Friday 16 October, John Eliot Gardiner stepped-in to conduct a concert with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra at the Auditorium de Radio-France in Paris.

Gardiner was joined by soprano Camilla Tilling for a performance of Beethoven’s early concert aria ‘Ah! Perfido’ op. 65, which was followed by the bass aria ‘Es ist genug’ from Mendelssohn’s oratorio Elijah, sung by soloist Tareq Nazmi. The concert was programmed to end with a performance of Brahms’s German Requiem, but as a result of the Radio-France Choir being unavailable, Gardiner and the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra showcased Brahms’ Symphony No. 3 in F Major.
