Handel Semele tour 2019

In Spring 2019, the Monteverdi Choir, English Baroque Soloists and John Eliot Gardiner toured Europe with a new production of Semele - “Handel’s sexiest opera”. In a concert-staging directed by Thomas Guthrie, a glamorous cast of young soloists joined the Monteverdi ensembles to present a drama that combines themes of deception, sexual power-struggle, the delicate relationship between gods and humans, and tragedy.
