ORCHESTRE RÉVOLUTIONNAIRE ET ROMANTIQUE STRING WORKSHOPS - 1 DECEMBER 2017

ORR lowres

On Friday 1 December at Morley College, the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner, will present a short private performance of three seminal string quartets by Schubert, Ravel and Webern, arranged for full string orchestra. Due to the all-encompassing nature of the Monteverdi 450 project, this will be the only chance to hear the ORR outside of their memorable appearance at the BBC Proms this calendar year, and is also a unique opportunity to enjoy a triptych of rarely-performed works delivered with the renowned authenticity associated with Monteverdi Choir & Orchestras.

Augmented by the Monteverdi Apprentices, who will be joining the ORR for the very last time, all three pieces will be studiously workshopped over the preceding two days under the watchful baton of Sir John Eliot Gardiner: the final performance promises to be a dizzying exploration of the possibilities of string repertoire of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
